A former model and an Indian actress, Sameera Reddy has appeared in a number of successful Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films. Sammera Reddy was born on 8th September, 1982 in Rajamundry, Andhra Pradesh into a Telugu family. Sameera’s father is in the transport business while her mother is a homemaker. Her two sisters Meghna Reddy and Sushma Reddy are well known models.Meghna Reddy is a former channel V VJ and a popular model. She married Greek businessman Ariel Mionis and currently lives in New York where she models for mail catalogs like Macy. Sushma Reddy, the eldest one is a multifaceted diva who is an actor, model, former VJ and a scriptwriter.Sameera Reddy attended the Bombay Scottish School in Mahim, Mumbai and later studied at Sydenham College. A tomboy during her early years, Sameera has highly inspired by her sisters to join the glam world. She was first seen in a classic avatar in Pankaj Udhas’s smash hit music video ‘Aur Ahistaa’. She caught the attention of bollywood filmmakers and was flooded with offers.She made her debut with ‘Maine Dil Tujhko Diya’ opposite Sohail Khan also starring Sanjay Dutt, Kabir Bedi and Dalip Tahil. She was later seen in multistarrer films like ‘Darna Mana Hai’ alongside Saif Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Nana Patekar, Boman Irani and Shilpa Shetty among others, ‘Plan’ alongside Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, Dino Morea, Sanjay Suri and ‘Musafir’ alongside Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt. Sameera made the headlines with her sensuous kissing scene with Anil Kapoor in Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Musafir’.In the year 2005, Sameera Reddy plunged into Telugu film industry with films like K. Vijaya Bhaskar’s ‘Jai Chiranjeeva’ alongside Chiranjeevi, Bhoomika Chawla, Arbaaz Khan and Rahul Dev and B. Gopal’s ‘Narasimhudu’ alongside Jr. NTR and Amisha Patel. Sameera Reddy next featured in films like ‘Taxi Number 9211’, ‘Naksha’, ‘Fool n Final’ and ‘One Two Three’ wherein she got the opportunity to work with actors like Nana Patekar, Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty , Paresh Rawal, John Abraham, Vivek Oberoi and Shahid Kapoor.Besides working in Hindi and Telugu films, Sameera has also appeared in Bengali, Tamil and Malayalam films. Her Tamil film ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ directed by Gautham Menon was a blockbuster and she won accolades for her realistic performance. She has worked with ace filmmaker Buddhadev Dasgupta in his two Bengali films titled ‘Ami, Yasin Ar Amar Madhubala’ and ‘Kaalpurush’. Both these films were screened at the Toronto International Film Festival. ‘Kaalpurush’ received the coveted National Film Award for Best Film in 2006. Sameera’s another film Migration directed by Mira Nair was also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2007.Sameera Reddy is the first Indian actress ever to have a video game based on her character called Sameera the Street Fighter. The dusky beauty has graced the covers of several top line magazines and has been the subject of documentaries like Spice Trade. She was chosen by BBC to be a guest actor on the hit series Casualty and experience celebrity life in UK.Sameera Reddy was recently seen in successful films like ‘De Dana Dan’ opposite Suniel Shetty and ‘Race’ opposite Anil Kapoor. She is currently working on a couple of projects including ‘Race 2’ and a Malayalam movie opposite Mohanlal.
